The battle between Hector and Achilles is the most impressive episode for me.Hector was just a human being, and Achilles was the son of Thetis, the goddess of the sea.But Hector finally chose to accept the challenge of Achilles, because he was the prince of the Trojan, and behind him was his family, his people, and his city.It is a duty and an honor.Though death befalls all men alike, it may be weightier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather. His family and people will never forget him. He was a hero of the Trojan .Achilles, who valued friendship, went to war again to avenge. He killed Hector and then humiliated Hector by dragging his body, but the complexity of human nature still made Achilles compassionate, so he responds to Hector's father's plea for the return of his son's body and offerred a truce.

Their fighting was so brilliant that I cannot diperse my attetion.  I have never watched this movie before, so I can just get  some my own opinions that may be wrong and one-side from the cut. Achilles was brave, justicial and strong. He dared to come alone to battle with Hector and he didn't choose kill Hector when Hector fell down without weapon and shield. In addition, he was so skillful of fighting. Also we can't deny that he is merciless since every action was freaky deadly.

Hector was brave too. He knew Achilles was mars but he also acceptes his challenge. From this, we can know Hector was so responsible and loved his people. He had to choose to fight with Achilles for his country or they would end. Eventually, he died.

After researching some materials, I know no matter Achilles or Hector, they all faced two options, fighting or escaping. They all choose fighting although for different reasons. Achilles fought for personal dinity and honor. Hector fought for his people though facing so powerful enemy. In the lay, Hector was greater.

It seems it is difficult for me to opt which one I like most. Achilles knows what he wants and sacrifices for his lifelong ideal. His mother deity wishes his boy could be a normal man who lives in peaceful happiness, but he opts to be a hero with fame paid by the death toll. And Hector, the prince of Troy, Paris’ brother, maybe when he is faced with Achilles, he knows he would die in front of his country’s gate, he accepts his destiny with his steadfast willing.

As I see it, both of them shows the dignity and grace of "being towards death".angel

They are hardcore, steadfast and proud. In my opnion, both of them are the sacrifices for the deities' battle. Achilles win the battle with Hector, but he then receive the death for his destiny. And Hector, maybe he had already known he would be die in front of the gate, but he swears to guard his own country, his family and his honor.

Just as the end of the film says, “Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die.” We are the normal people among many millions, we are not deities, but we have the right to look up to the starry sky, to seek the essence of lives and defend our own faith, regardless of the tricks of the deities.

Don’t you see Beethoven? This brilliant composer is a deaf, but he creates amounts of classic melodies we can appreciate until today. Don’t you see Sisyphus? The man always pushing the stone uphill with endless sorrow and hopes. Don’t you see the crowds among many millions? All of us seek the values of existing and fight in owns’ ways. Sometimes we need to face the cruelty of life, but don’t forget “The real warrior, dare to face the gloomy life.”yes

    Thank you!heart

Revenge for his friend Patroclus & Stay away from war and enjoyment. He chose to fight for his friend.

Hector it is no doubt that he is brave and has a strong will of protect his homeland. Actually, when he decided to accept Achilles’ challenge , he had a premonition of his ending, but he still chose to fight for his motherland. In the war, he won many merits and protect his country till the end of his life. In a manner of speaking, he lives for his country, his honor is bound up with his country. He is responsible and heroic. Achillles is the most powerful warrior in the Greek coalition. It is said that his mother Thetis pinched his ankle and soaked him in the Styx River, which makes him invulnerable, except his heels.  He values honor and he doesn’t care about the gold and fame that battle can bring him. When Achilles' booty slave girl was taken away by Agamemnon, Achilles felt that his honor was greatly insulted, so he left the camp angrily, claiming that he would never take part in the fight again if Agamemnon didn't apologize in public. He values his friends. As his best friend Patroclus was killed by Hector, he resolutely entered the war and killed Hector.

    Achilles:

When Achilles was born, he was given the Oracle: if Achilles did not go to the Trojan War, he would have a beautiful wife, many children, and enjoy a long life. His name would be remembered by his children until their names were forgotten; if he went to the war, he would create a great cause and win great honor, but died young. Nevertheless, Achilles chose the latter way of life. He said, "people always die. Why do I choose mediocrity and longevity? Even if I die early, I will live a vigorous life. " Later, he became a powerful Greek general, and he was famous for his many miracles in the field of Troy.

    Hector:

Hector, like Achilles, faced two options. Before the Trojan War, he lived a happy life with his wife and children. Hector was not belligerent. As a prince of a country, he did not need to fight in person when the war came, but he bravely fought for the country, his family and his citizens. In the end, he died in the battlefield, leaving us only a brave and fearless image of love.

I prefer Hector to Achilles. Although Achilles was brave and good at war, he was also cruel and arrogant. Hector, however, is a responsible person who is very friendly to the people around him. He once said to his soldiers, "all my life, I've lived by a code. Honor the goals, love your women, and defend your country!" He fought against Achilles for the sake of his country, citizens and family, which is really admirable.

The author tells the story of Hector and Achilles, respectively, two different options, and both them chose the more difficult road. The author through before and after contrast highlights the two image of hero is not afraid of difficult, but on the basis of description of events is less. So it can't reflect more clearly the two characters of the hero, and the overall description slightly thin.

Archilles originally refused to participate in the Trojan War. But in order to help his friend Patroclus revenge, he finally choose to participate in the war. Hector, the Greek prince, was the object of Archilles' revenge. Hector could have chosen not to fight, but he did so to protect his country.

In my opinion, although both of them ended in tragedy, there is no doubt that both are heroes. Although Archilles is impulsive and arrogant, he is really brave and good at fighting. What’s more, he pays great attention to friendship and can stand up for brothers' revenge. Unlike many gods, as a mortal, the Greek prince Hector, is the most dedicated male character in Greek stories. He loves his father, protects his younger brother, cares for his wife and children. He choose to protect his country, although he knew that the result would be failure. On the other hand, his greatness lies in his respect for his opponents.

Hector and Achilles chose to face the war rather than escape. Although their beliefs are completely different. Hector wants to achieve peace, so he must fight, he thinks it is absurd to fight for honor. Instead, the Achilles fought to retain their names. In the end, Hector died under Archilles, who was also thought to be dying. I think they are brave and not afraid of war and death. Archilles takes dignity and friendship very seriously. He has many personality aspects, including tenderness, justice and cruelty. He is real. Hectors are loyal, brother, and more responsible. He cherishes love and justice, loves his relatives deeply, noble and fearless. They all showed their light and value in the Trojan War.

It would be a shame if the prince of a country would hide behind its army and escape from his fight, but Hector fought for more than merely his duty and glory as a glitterati. Rather, he faced Archilles even though there was a slim chance to win, since he was proud to fight to death and protect those who he cherished if this would be his fate. We see a mortal fell and died, but his sprit remained respected.

As for Archilles, all his actions turned out to be reasonable and respectable for his passion for fight and true personality. He seize to become a great warrior and be eulogize in history, but he would also avenge for his very best friend, which shows that he did not fight like a savage, but a true warrior who would respect his opponents and value his friends and families even in pursuit for fame and strength.

Though these two heroes selected two different ways, they both lived a meaningful life and gain their own value. That is what makes them great and respectable.

Hector, the prince of Troy, insisted in fighting against Achilles alone, although he knew that he might fail and lost his life. We know he had this thinking but he still fought with all his might. I think this is worthy of our admiration. Finally he was dead but he was a soldier with a strong sense of responsibility and dignity of the people of Troy.

Achilles was a Greek hero. From the fact that Achilles refused to agree with Hector, it could be seen that Achilles was very arrogant. But according to that he fought for his friend, I found that he attached importance to friendship. His final victory over Hector also showed that he was a brave and warlike hero.

In this movie, no matter victory or failure, Hector and Achilles were both heroes of their respective countries because they always fought for their countries.

Some epics happen in front of us, we don't see them; until one day, when we see the epic that records ourselves, we will be sad. Hector and Archilles are known as the "God of war" in the battlefield, but they are two different people.

Archilles is a selfish and free man. He is eager to fight and obsessed with fighting. He will not respect the body of the loser. His anger will make him ruthless and cruel. At the same time, he was naive and immature. He apologized for insulting the body. When he saw the king of Troy, he thought of his father. His strong self-esteem also made him fight for himself, so he became his own " deity" of freedom.

In contrast, Hector looks more like an ideal and responsible person. He is an elite of mortals and a war hero. He fights for his brother, family and country. He shoulders the responsibility. He took up the shield and spear to clean up his brother's mess. He loves everything around him, so he needs to fight to protect them, no matter what the situation He always cherishes the people and is a hero of ordinary people.

Of course, it is Archilles, a powerful and somewhat immature contradictory " deity ", that is more fascinating. It is Hector, an ideal, beautiful but tragic individual who ends with a bang, who tells us an epic.

Hector is a hero with dignity, honor and responsibility. Even though he knew it was a lost war, for the sake of the tribe, for the sake of the people, for the sake of his loved ones, he went out of the gate of Troy alone to fight with Achilles. Faced with the security of his family and his country, he chose to fight for peace in two countries.

Achilles is a brave and loyal hero. He could have refused to fight and chosen a comfortable life, but he chose to avenge his good friend Patroclus bravely. But Achilles is a complex and changeable character. On the one hand, on the battlefield, he made countless contributions to the king and wiped out countless enemies. And he takes friendship very seriously and sincerely. On the other hand, he was indifferent to nationalism, selfish and cruel. He was narrow-minded and could not bear to be said ill of; He was ruthless and killed people of all ages.

They are both heroes of courage and strength, fighting for what they believe in. But the difference is that Achilles embodies individualism, while I prefer the rational and selfless Hector.

He fighted for his country, everything he did just want to strengthen national power and maintain family dignity. He can motivate the soldiers with high spirits, he can also calmly face the fact that he is about to die.

Both Achilles and Hector are great warriors. They have pride and glory and want people to respect them. However, comparing with Achilles, I think Hector is a more civilized hero. He takes more responsibility and glory to his nation, his family and his people. He has no choice to walk to the death but still finds his duty to go forward and not to turn back. He is a typical symbol of a royalty. On the contrast, Achilles seems to concern more about his own glory. One example is when Agamemnon takes away Briseis, Achilles refuses to fight feeling loss of his honor until his friend is killed by Hector.

Archilles also impress me very much, he participated in the war only for glory, but withdraw from the war later because of the dissatisfaction with Agamemnon. Afterwards, he took up arms again to revenge for her best friend. He was such a real hero with true emotion!

In the video, it is easy for us to realize the dedication of Hector. Faced with two sides, he chose the way threatening his life to encourage the army instead of temporarily saving his life. Hero is always memorized by the history, and Hector is one of them. We all know we should have a broad perspective, and we are educated to sacrifice ourselves for the benefit of the public when necessary. But it is too difficult for us to do that in reality. I admire Hector because he belongs to the small group of people who did it.

The situation for Achilles is similar to Hector but also different. Achilles chose to fight for his friend and the sacrifice may be the lives of someone following him. We do can say that he is a person loyal to the friendship but in my opinion, he is not so responsible to the people following him. There were many people would die for him.

It seems that Hector and Archilles have choices. However, in my opinion, they have no choices but only to fight till death. For Hector, he is the prince of the country. If he doesn't stand out and fight for the country, how can the soider of his country be couraged and brave to fight aganst Grace's army? Hence, he have got to fight with Archilles  even he knows that he will be defeated. As for Archilles, he has tried to get out of the war, bur his best friend died because of what he did. In honer of his best frind, he has to join the war again and fight with Hectoe, who killed his best friend. Therefore, it is all for destiny. Both of them seem to have a choice, but the fact is that they have to fight with each other.

Hector was the prince of Troy. In his life, he could choose between going to fight in Trojan War, or just hiding in the palace and leading a safe and comfortable life. Hector chose to fight for glory. What's more, he took Archilles' challenge and fought to the death, even he knew Archilles was a demi-god and he had liitle chance to win.

Archilles also faced similar choice of life and fate. The famous prophsey for Thetis, "He will be long live with an ordinary life, or die with moutainous glories at a young age. ", has shown the hard decision Archilles had to make. Even though his mother tried all the methods to protect him, Archilles still picked up his weapons when Odysseus blew the horn of war.

As lifelong enemies of each other, Hector and Archilles almost faced similar choices of their life. And finally, they both chose to lead a meaningful life, at the price of their own lives. It is very interesting to put this two characters together. No matter you are a demi-god or an ordinary person, it seems that your still can' t control your own fate and avoid death, which makes life look meaningless and hopeless. And that is what existentialists concern about. But Archilles and Hector offerd us a solution. Controlling our life or living long do not matter, the most important thing is to create our own value in our unknown lifetime and win glories to prove that we do exist. We do not live as "humans", but "heros", "heros" that have courage to challenge everything in our settled destiny, "heros" of our own.

In the film, Achilles is arrogant, rebellious and invincible. He has no loyalty to anyone or anything except honor, and his infinite desire to establish an immortal name urges him to join Agamemnon's army to attack Troy. His withdrawal and return influence the war. In the clip, Hector is eventually killed by Achilles, but Achilles himself dies under the walls of Troy. There's something about both of these characters that strikes me, they all have charisma. Achilles has a special loyalty to his friends. Hector had a chance to refuse and let his army to protect him, but he didn’t stay back, and fight for his country, his family and his dignity. Both of them have something to fight for, and their brave to fight.

We all know that both Hector and Achilles are famous heroes of the Trojan War. Achilles killed Hector in revenge because Hector killed his friend Patroclus. In this case, we can clearly see the difference between their life choices.

As a prince of Troy and the leader of the Trojan army, Hector courageoously and responsibly assumed the responsibility of protecting his country. He fought bravely against all odds and fought for his country and people, rather than choosing to abandon them and run away alone. Though he was shot by Achilles, he did his best to fulfill his duty, there's no doubt that he was the greatest warrior of Troy.

Compared with Hector, Achilles was more selfish and impulse. Just because of knowing that his friend was killed by Hector, he went to fight with Hector and killed him without thinking. We can learn that he lived for himself and did whatever he wanted to do.

We have to make many choices in our life, and whatever choice we make has a reason. We should not debate whether Hector's choice or Achilles' is the right one, but should refer to their choice and make our own correct choices.

    Hector

Choice: to live a peaceful and happy life or to fight for his country. Of the two choices, he chose the latter.

I consider him one of the greatest heroes of the Trojan War. He was devoted to his father and cared for his brother, even though his brother had caused the war; He was a very responsible man. When his wife asked him to withdraw from the war, he firmly refused and bravely took up his duty as a soldier and fought against the Greek allied forces for ten years. He was a man, and though he knew he was going to be killed by Achilles, he did not flinch from going out of the gates of Troy and fighting with him for his own dignity, for his country and his people. He was a real hero.

    Achilles

Choice: Achilles also had two choices, to continue living a quiet life or to fight for his honor and his friends. Of the two choices, he also chose the latter.

Indeed, he was also a hero, brave and good at fighting, in which he did receive honor. But to me, his image is nowhere near as great as Hector's. He did not choose to go to war for the sake of his country and his people. He was competitive and in a sense selfish. But he also has a more brilliant human nature, loyalty, responsible to friends. When he heard of the death of his best friend Patroclus, he immediately turned to Hector to avenge his friend.

    Hector:

Hector is the prince  of Troy. When he encountered the choice between life and collective honor and happiness, he chose the latter. In order to protect his country and family, he chose to fight with Achilles bravely. Although he knew it was difficult for him to win the battle, he still took his responsibility. He hated war, but in order to defend his country,he still fight bravely.Hector is respected not only for his bravery, but also for his noble humanity and character.we can feel the shadow of Oriental traditional culture from Hector‘s story, which expresses the spirit of collectivism.

    Achilles:

Achilles is a natural war hero. When he was challenged by Agamemnon, he chose the latter between the victory of the army and his dignity and honor. Achilles is a man with complex character. He is a brave warrior, always forgets life and death in the war, but on the other  he is also cruel and unrestrained. He has a worshipped soul and a cruel animal nature in childhood. In sharp contrast to Hector's strong collectivism, Achilles lived for himself, for personal honor. His character is closer to western traditional culture.

Hector, the prince of Troy, is loyal to the patriotic role in tragedy, which is in line with the eastern values of duty and honor, and are often carried together. Died in a duel with Achilles.

In contrast to Hector, Achilles is very wicked, very wild, playing with the world, playing with God. At first, I thought Achilles was just a reckless young man who took pleasure in killing people, but that was far from the case. In his view, god is just a group of people who control the fate of human beings for their own benefit, not worthy of worship. He didn’t hesitate to cut down the statue of Apollo and resisted for the ancient Greeks. He knew what he was fighting for, first for the glory of Greece, then for the sacrifice of his loved ones, challenging Hector, and finally for the protection of his beloved against Agamemnon.

A true warrior is not without fear, but knows what he is truly afraid of. Achilles feared the loss of his glory, the death of his cousin, and the separation of those he loved, so he would do his best to protect them, even against the heroes Hector, Agamemnon, and Apollo – whom are heroes in the West.

Achilles said a word on his deathbed: "Not Hector, this is...the era of...Achilles." This sentence struck me, because it reflected Achilles' pursuit of glory.

This is one of the most famous and wonderful scenes in the Trojan War. After reading it, what impressed me most was Achilles' and Hector's heroic spirit.

About Hector, from the moment he walked out of the city gate, we can see from his firm eyes that it is enough for us all. Later, when Achilles was completely blinded by anger, he calmly said to Achilles, "If Zeus let me win, I won't insult your body, even though you were cruel ..." It can be seen that he is rational, responsible and aboveboard!

About Achilles, after his friends being killed by Hector, he became angry completely and he chose to fight rather than negociate. Maybe we think he was a litter bellicose. However, in Greek mythology, almost all heroes were aggressive, and they gave weight to their spirit rather than their life.

Above all, although Hector and Achilles were different characters and they had different personality, both of they were Classic hero roles in our heart!
