在任务(2)的线下外联活动策划案制定时,我考虑到学院的审批流程较慢,且近期事务较多,存在被迫活动推迟的可能性,于是在各商家沟通时,主动提醒商家预留出推迟进行的时间。*后确实出现推迟活动的情况,我在告知商家的同时,向商家推荐了其他学校的外联部负责人,即保证了商家活动连续性,也完成了学院的外联任务。
Context:
高中时期,我为校团委学生会红十字会成员。部门日常工作分为两大类。第一类为:举办各类志愿活动、医疗知识科普活动、垃圾分类环保活动等等;第二类为:在学校举办大型体育赛事期间设置并管理医疗点,为运动员提供服务,并对伤员进行治疗工作。

在学校篮球赛赛期前,我与其他成员多次开展线下会议进行内部讨论、与团委老师沟通交流、与校体育部(赛事组织者)沟通协商、与各参赛队伍联系,*终制定出经多方协调、使各方受益的策划案。

我们在讨论医疗点应设在何处时曾有过争论:一方认为场地较大,应在场地两端队员休息处各设立一医疗点,以便队员前来领取葡萄糖水并休息;包括我在内的另一方认为该处常围有人群,不利于及时发现伤情或伤员的移动,且分散的医疗点不利于药品的传递和管理。*终我们达成一致首要目标应为“服务伤员”,因此将医疗点设立在球场中线处,以便及时处理伤情。

因赛事规模较庞大,涉及团体、人数众多,我们为医疗工作的筹备规划预留的充足的时间,医疗物品方面,我们提前两周进行帐篷、葡萄糖水、碘伏等物品的订购,并向校医院预订棉签、绷带、担架等所需医疗设备,提前一周确保各物品就位。人力资源方面,我们收集各成员课表,提前制定好排班表、替补安排以及各职位分工,保障人员正常到岗。

为避免人员时间安排冲突,我们额外招募同学,对其进行培训,组成了替补阵容,并制作了替补排班表。为应对天气变化,我们联系了学校校医院、保卫处等,商定了医疗器材存放地点。为应对伤员伤势严重我们无法处理的情况,我们特向学校申请,允许值班人员携带一部手机,以便及时拨打120。

夏季多雨,因天气原因,篮球赛多次改期。我们灵活更改排班表,并制定合理的更改规则;作为药品及器材管理人,我积极联系校医院,就物品的存取进行协商。

球赛与下午下课后举行,由于下课时间与球赛开始时间间隔极短,我们必须在非常有限的时间内完整移动医疗点的布置,利用中午午休时间、课间时间巧妙分配工作,减轻赛前工作负担。另外,由于我本人同时为班级联队队长,需合理安排工作与比赛,更对效率提出了要求。
Result:我们在医疗点处的工作以及场边巡逻工作获得了球员、观众、校领导的一致好评,成功处理了多起抽筋、扭伤、摔伤等,成功使用担架和轮椅为伤势严重的伤员提供了便利,成功担任了校医院、医院和同学们之间的桥梁。
Learning:
该经历提升了我的活动组织能力、统筹管理能力、多方协调能力,使我学会更全面地制定规划方案、更合理地平衡多方诉求、更冷静地应对突发情况,同时也使我感受到了与他人分工合作,朝着共同的目标前进的快乐。
CLIENT ORIENTATION——Considers all those to whom services are provided to be 'clients' and seeks to see things from client's point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to clients.
Context: Last semester, in the beginning of December, in our reading club called “Classici et Nova” in Latin, the leading teacher and other three students including me needed to confer and arrange the time to hold a lecture, in which a doctor of Renmin University of China was invited to give speech about the late antient Roman Republic, in accordance to the lecturer’s schedule, as well as the appropriate time for students in BFSU to attract more listeners, ensuring the success and effect of the lecture. Meanwhile, at least two of us students were required to stay on site as servicers. At that time, the review week for students’ final exams was around the corner, in which every student would be trapped in preparation for exams and no one would like to listen to a historical lecture, so schedule was tight and alternative time left for holding the lecture was limited in one week. We had to achieve agreement and make decision to fix the time as fast as possible. We had proposed three plans, but each of which was inappropriate and denied.
At that time, a dilemma in which I had to choose between the best time for the group and myself appeared. Saturday night was appropriate for both the lecturer and BFSU students, but two of us, my senior and I, had planned to go to a show at that night with already bought tickets, which means that there would be deficiency of servicers if we two choose to be absent from site of the lecture.
Action: Faced with the dilemma, in thoughts of the urgency to achieve group agreement and the necessity of servicers on site, the choice I made was to serve the demand of the group and promote the decision. I could have proposed another plan to discuss and sought for a schedule that would not influence my original plan of going to the show, which means delaying the final decision again and wasting more time due to my personal preference. On the contrary, I communicated with other two students and our leading teacher and confirmed that Saturday night was exactly the best for the lecture. Though that time is not the best for me, I agreed with that arrangement, resold my ticket, and served as a volunteer on site with another one of us three. Additionally, after chatting privately with my senior who was unwilling to sacrifice the show for the lecture, we reached an agreement that I was going to take the on-site part of the work, while she was going to be responsible for conclusive work afterwards.
At that night, I took on the service work on site, serve snacks for listeners and kept an eye on the situation on site, such as maintaining the room temperature and keeping the room clean after snacks and beverage, while the other one was responsible for summarizing the lecture. After the lecture, my senior who went to the show and was absent undertook the task to compose the summary article and publish it on our Wechat official account as final conclusive part of all works.
Result: Thanks to the joint efforts of our reading club and the lecturer’s excellent speech, the lecture was held successfully as scheduled. The conflict between group action and individual leisure were solved perfectly under mutual communication and individual devotion, as we accomplished work smoothly with clear divided but joint efforts. Though I sacrificed my own leisure time for group work, I was very glad that the lecture bore fruit and my choice to support the group decision and efforts committed to group action were not in vain.
Learning: In this experience, I felt that devoting myself to group work is so pleasant that makes me full of sense of accomplishment, belonging as well as group honor. Though I sacrificed the time for leisure, I did not feel any exhaustion or depression after serving on site of the lecture. On the contrary, I felt extremely pleasant after that night because I devoted myself to this event and my efforts were paid off, let alone the knowledge widened and deepened by the lecture, which made up my mind to put the group work of our reading club on priority in the future.
I have realized the vitality of communication and compromise to achieve agreement. Though there were conflict between personal leisure and group work as well as different preferences in decision-making among we three, especially between my senior and me, we did not dispute but do communicate mutually, to satisfy everyone’s demand as possible, if not, to strike a balance between group decision-making and personal choices. Eventually, we accomplished all the work in harmony and efficiency.
What’s more, I have further discovered my strength and weakness when cooperating with others and was determined to improve my weakness and utilize my strength to better serve our group work. I realized that I am meticulous when serving and taking care of other people on site, but was not as competent as the other volunteer in writing an article to summarize the lecture at that time. Therefore, I read and learnt how to write good summaries. Shortly afterwards, at the end of the semester, in a lecture held by another reading club, to which we listened, I wrote a summary for it on my own and published it on our official account.
我也在学校的国际交流协会(Students’ International Communication Association)工作,也参与过不少公众号推文的制作。SICA的公众号推文以学生活动为主,且基本为学生运营,在公共传播与宣传的工作上要求不多,但是需要体现个人创意,从策划到撰写再到排版,每一步都要能够展现出新意,要十分能够吸引人参加,才能保证活动的参与人数和活动质量。在SICA的推文也有审核,但是只需要到部长层面一次审核即可。因此,我在SICA负责的几次推文制作,都尽可能将更多的创意融合进推文当中,*终也都取得了不错的效果。
Result
我在一年的任期内如上所述,尽努力奠定了比原来更坚实的社团基础,在解散危机中变成了非常活跃的社团。 另外,以各会员的需求和目标的共同点为中心进行活动,自然而然地增进了成员们的友谊,并引来了自发性的参与。 关注社团这种变化过程的指导教授表示,对复活原以为会解散的社团表示感叹,并期待今后的活动,教授也在终讲大会上表示会积极帮助。 另外,政府部门在仔细的预算管理和活动计划中提到的期待效果非常明确,因此还评选为优秀社团。社团会员们很高兴看到包含自己走过的1年过程的记录等数据,并以该记录内容为基础,摸索了今后社团改善方向和发展方向。

Context
As international relations students, we must always keep abreast with the latest developments and global issues. We shall not only use international relations theories to explain the world, but we also need some hard skills to carry out data analysis and research in order to provide evidence as well as statistics for current world events. Therefore, I always wanted to learn some hard skills. In this technologically advanced era, I started to develop my interest in programming. Although I do not have any prior knowledge regarding programming languages, however, I believe that I can learn whatever I want and push my limits. Besides my major in International Relations, I am minoring in Biomedical Engineering as the engineering course does provide mathematics and programming courses. The first programming language I learned was C++. The skill that is needed the most during coding is logical thinking skill, and I realized I am short of this skill.
Action
I have tried some ways to improve my programming skills. Firstly, I will try to find solutions online. Some free websites do provide basic courses for beginners and amateur learners. I always look for the one that attracts and suits me the most (with good visual graphics and interactive learning environments). Choosing the right one helps me to increase my interest in learning. I study from the websites and do the exercises after every chapter. Secondly, I seek help from my friend who is taking an engineering course. My friend explained the codes in a way that I could understand better, such as helping me to visualize them. I also found that I could learn faster when I discussed the problems I encountered with my friend. Whenever I get an assignment, I will draft my answer and send it to my friend for feedback. From there, I can improve my coding skills. Last but not least, discussing my problem with the lecturer. As the lecturer is more experienced, he can easily find out the bugs and errors in my codes. Furthermore, learning from the lecturer can help me to gain better insight into how programming languages work, not only the one we see, but also understand the rationale behind it. Sometimes, I will also provide feedback to the lecturer, so he can conduct the course with a bottom-up approach.
Result
During the course, I felt that I knew how to read the codes (of which I had no basic knowledge beforehand) and this brought me feelings of satisfaction and fulfillment. I am also able to solve mathematical equations, namely iteration, differential equations, and areas of geometry. I also got satisfactory results for my programming tests and exams, which I did not have much confidence in at the beginning of the course. Moreover, learning the first programming language (C++) enables me to catch up with the second programming language (Python) in a quicker way. Although it seems like solving mathematical equations does not help much in the International Relations course, nevertheless, it does help me strengthen my base. During my student exchange period in China, I am brave enough to take the Big Data Analytics course, in which Python is learned. During this course, the programming language can be used to analyze international relations events. Thanks to C++, learning Python is not as suffered as in previous time. I also found that I am able to think logically, which I can now design and run a small program.
Learning
As aforementioned, I am scared and not confident in trying something that I did not have prior knowledge of. However, I think this is what ‘learning’ is. Although I am not an expert in programming, I think we need not to be perfect in everything, as long as we have a passion for lifelong and continuous learning, we can learn whatever we want. After having this experience, I am brave to explore as well as more open to any other learning opportunities. Secondly, do not think that learning something that is not related to your course or does not fit into your current situation is a waste of time and effort because you will never know when you are going to need it. For instance, I very much appreciate that I took C++, and now I can deal with Python. Thirdly, getting feedback from the others is important. I am grateful that I have a friend and lecturer by my side during my learning journey, who always pointed out my mistakes. They help me to improve my critical thinking and logical thinking skills, constantly giving me different approaches to address problems. Lastly, do not be afraid to make mistakes. Since learning is a lifelong journey, the vital one is how we deal with problems. Although I always get frustrated when my codes are not working and always show bugs, however instead of feeling demotivated, I learned to find solutions in different ways until I get to solve it. Continuous learning is a competency that is associated with many different other skills, hence always improving ourselves is a motto that we need to adhere to.
