What do you think of Diogenes' philosophy? Should we take Diogenes' philosophy more seriously or must we dismiss it as too negative and unpractical?

I think we should think about this question critically.

On one hand, I think there are something which are extrmely impractical and overly negative.

    1) Diogenes' extreme rejection of comforts and his embrace of a harsh lifestyle might be seen as impractical and unrealistic for many people. Not everyone may be willing or able to adopt such a radical approach to life.

    2) Diogenes' deliberate rejection of societal norms and his provocative behavior, such as living in a large jar and mocking social conventions, might be viewed as unnecessarily negative or counterproductive in fostering positive social relationships.

On the other hand, there are also something can follow in some way.

    1) Diogenes advocated for a simple and virtuous life. The idea of focusing on essential values and virtues rather than material possessions is a perspective that resonates with many philosophical traditions. Embracing simplicity and virtue can be seen as a positive aspect of his philosophy.

    2) Diogenes' rejection of societal norms and his emphasis on living in accordance with nature can be seen as a call for critical examination of the values and conventions that society imposes. I think this aspect of his philosophy encourages independent thinking and a questioning attitude.

Those are my thoughts about the philosophy of Diogenes.

I think it is surreal.Personally speaking,it is definitely impossible to achieve. As my parents age, my self-imposed burden has became increasingly heavy. It is great to possess such a free life.No money or no worried is just okay for Diogenes, but if I quest a non-material life, when the sickness hits the people who I deeply cherish, how can I do something meaningful for them?

It depends on the circumstance. If you are free ,no work to go and no family to provide for,and meanwhile you go for such a lifestyle, you can take it seriousy. On the contrary,in my opinion,it is so unpractical but captivating

I think Diogenes' ideas are worth thinking about. He explains his thoughts by practice, does not care about power and does not chase fame and wealth, emphasizes the abandonment of material desires, social norms and traditional values, and advocates a simple life and free thinking, which is worth learning from. Nowadays, we seem to forget why we want to study, Shouting the slogan "go ashore" all day long, and have long forgotten the real purpose of doing this thing. So, let's think about Diogenes and get inspired by it.

In my judgement, Diogenes' philosophy is worth considering to some extent, and I believe we should take Diogenes' philosophy more seriously. Because although Diogenes said we were animals, animals live healthy lives and sleep on the ground. So we should be like animals: no one need privacy; natural acts are not shameful; we all do the same things, and need not hide them. But I believe that although we are animals, we are higher animals, educated, and brain developed, so some behaviors cannot be compared to animals.

I think we should take Diogenes' philosophy seriously. Diogenes was a great philosopher in history. His thoughts may be negative, but there is still much for us to learn from. For example, do not forget the most original happiness, and the blind pursuit of wealth.

I can fully understand and accept Diogenes' philosophy. In the world, everyone is different and has their own different and unique place. Also, everyone's pursuit is different. There are those who seek fame and power, and there are those who, like Diogenes, seek freedom and a natural life. I don't think his lifestyle is negative, but it does go against modern social conventions.

Diogenes hates anything artificial and false in the world, he believes that everything that exists naturally is the best, and people should not worry about what is attached to you in the world, and should pursue your freedom in the present. I think this is too negative and unrealistic. Because now people because of the progress of various material and spiritual civilization, we have a closer connection with things in society other than nature, we should not completely abandon it, but make better use of it to find the meaning of life.

I we should take a positive view of Diogenes' Cynicism. If we want to live better and have better material conditions in a modern society,We not only need to work hard, but also need to have a timely reflection.Cynicism can remind us at this moment. We should think that what our goal is to strive for, whether we have become overly addicted to material desires and become slaves to money. We need to keep our heads clear and understand what our goals are. We need to be contented with the things we have owned instead of always living with social conventions.

I believe that Diogenes' philosophy contains the way of life. He advocated that we should live a simple and free life, which is similar to the ideas advocated by Zhuangzi, a representative figure of Taoism in ancient China. He also advocated a free and natural way of life, pursuing personal freedom and independence, and opposing social constraints and restrictions. Diogenes has been practicing his philosophy throughout his life. We should take his philosophy more seriously, not excessively pursue utilitarianism, and live a happy and happy life.

As the representative of cynicism, his thought is indeed worth pondering. But at the same time, I think his thoughts have a certain feudalism, which may be more suitable for the social environment at that time, and it is a little excessive and unrealistic now. It is almost impossible for humans to renounce all material life and return to nature,as Diogenes did.

I think Diogenes' philosophy makes us think, but it's too extreme.Nowadays, people's living standards are getting higher and higher, but it also leads to a lot of people enjoying a luxurious life. Many people are muddled and have no clear purpose in life. But I do not think that Diogenes is exaggerating when he says that he has no clothing and no shelter. We should advocate frugality, live a simple life, have a clear goal in life and strive for it, but this does not mean that we should take the initiative to suffer unnecessarily.

Looking at the world from a cynical point of view, we may feel that everyone is only thinking about themselves, that seemingly well-intentioned actions have ulterior motives, and that trusting others is easily deceived. Excessive cynicism has negative consequences at all levels. Therefore, I think cynicism is not adapted to the spiritual needs of today's society. Diogenes' philosophy can give us a lot of inspiration in a certain sense, but it also needs innovation to adapt to The Times.

I think we should relate Diogenes' philosophical ideas to our practical lives. In this materialistic society, we are gradually trapped by the social torrent and lose our thinking about the meaning of life. We may as well learn Diogenes to return to nature and find the meaning of life in nature. Human beings are group animals, in the rapid development of science and technology today, we must integrate into the social group. If, like Diogenes, you completely abandon your worldly possessions and return to nature, you will fall behind society and find it difficult to survive. Therefore, we should dialectically look at Diogenes' philosophical thought and combine it with the present social reality.

Diogenes is a representative of the school of cynicism, he advocated simple and natural ideal life, the pursuit of spiritual wealth. I think his philosophical theory is positive, we need to take it seriously, it guides us to find independence and freedom, to find the most authentic spiritual abundance, to take goodness as a moral belief, away from those desires alienated by capital, away from luxury and complexity.

The life seemed decadent, but the cynicism represented by Diogenes believed that education was their duty. They teach by example, take the lead in following the example, take the position of real people, and advocate ideas. He believes that education is control for the young, comfort for the old, wealth for the poor, and decoration for the rich. In Diogenes' educational thought, he attaches special importance to practice. He believes that practice can overcome everything, especially the training of virtue and physical experience.

Under Diogenes' ideological system, the concept of freedom is very strong, and the pursuit of moral freedom liberated by desire is idealized "complete freedom". He believes that goodness is the highest moral principle, and goodness can achieve physical and mental freedom and independence. Therefore, the way of life he chooses is asceticism, and asceticism is the fundamental way to achieve freedom. In addition, the ascetic way of life can gain people's sympathy, so that they can feel more independent and free.

Diogenes' view of freedom can be considered somewhat extreme and somewhat inadequate at present, but it plays a certain role in promoting the development of human freedom

We cannot be completely possessed by social things like negative desires, fame and gain. We can take things that are positive to our society and make it easier to understand by people.

I think Diogenes' philosophy is partly acceptable. For   example, the freedom that Diogenes pursues is absolute freedomI. But I don't think there is absolute freedom in this world, because if a person wants to live, he must be dependent on the outside world, and Diogenes also has things that cannot be thrown away. Alexander also needed to take steps to assert his absolute power. So I don't think absolute freedom can be done. Those invented things are supposed to provide convenience for our life, but people become lazy because of it. Generally speaking, it is pleasant to reduce much unnecessary problems when we keep a nuature and simple life.
