I think there are several reasons for this. Firstly, it represents the inheritance of emotions and memories. Land is the witness of an elderly couple's life, carrying many aspects of their family's life, including birth, aging, illness, sadness, joy, and separation. They also hope to pass on the land to their children, allowing them to continue the bond of family memories and emotions. Secondly, it is also a cultural responsibility and the continuation of tradition. For farmers, land is the foundation of their survival, family culture, and agricultural traditions. With the rapid development of socialization, young people are gradually moving away from land and their hometowns, leading to cultural gaps. Therefore, they hope that their children can inherit land and continue to respect nature and ancestors. The third is the spiritual sustenance for their children's future. Even if their children leave the countryside, the land is still regarded by the elderly as a "retreat" for their children, a stable and pure spiritual home. They hope that the land can provide spiritual support for their children in the restless urban life.

I think that the couple want to pass the land to their children ,cuz they view the land as treasure which means a lot to them, not just the land itself. This land has been passed down through several generations of their family, holding great significance for them. They harbor a deep and special affection for this land. This couple hopes to educate their children not to forget roots by inheriting the land. This land is not only a commodity for growing crops, but also a spiritual sustenance passed down from our ancestors

This land has nurtured their ancestors for generations and carries profound heritage significance. However, due to the different eras and ideological differences between the elderly couple and their children, they fail to understand their children's changes in clothing style and decision to leave their hometown. For the elderly couple, this land is meant to be passed down continuously, and their children should never leave their ancestral home. Therefore, they wish for their children to return to their native land and carry on the legacy of this "land".

I think there are two reasons why the elderly couple want to pass the land on to their children. The first is that the couple are already very old, as the article mentioned "get old and exhausted", they are no longer capable of doing very tiring farming work and hope that their children can inherit this land. The second is that while the couple love this land, they also miss their children. "l love this land and hope one of my children comes back one day to live""it seems that none of them will ever come back to live here again."They know that their children have flown to a larger world and may not come back, but they themselves cannot leave. They can only hope that their children will come back one day and inherit the land,or pass it on to their grandchildren to ensure that this land can continue and the family roots can also be sustained.

I think the old couple wants to pass the land on to their children for a deeply emotional reason, seeing it as the living heart of their family's heritage rather than just a piece of property. The land holds generations of memories and represents their entire identity; it's where their children grew up, and the farmer feels a profound connection to every inch of it. They hope that by passing it on, one of their children will return from the city, continuing the family's legacy and the traditional way of life that they cherish. Ultimately, they want to entrust their children not just with the soil itself, but with the values, history, and secret wisdom that the land holds.

    1. They want to pass on the land over to their children because that land isn’t just property, but is the story and memory of their whole family. For them, the land is their roots, where their forefathers lived, and by passing it on they make sure their past still lives on in the future.

    2. Besides, they feel the time is short. In other words, the land is aging, the seasons aren’t what they once were, and they themselves are getting older. If they don’t give it to their children now, the chance for meaning, connection and rooted may be lost. So in giving the land away, they’re doing more than transferring land, but entrusting a piece of their life and identity.

They and their forefathers have lived on this land along.Their kids spent a happy childhood on this land, for example catching frogs and mud crabs and gathering flowers. The old couple have spent their entire lives working on this land. They are delighted with their harvest and hope their children can carry on this joy.

    1. This elderly couple regards the land as their most precious inheritance. It is the bloodline connection to their ancestors and cultural identity. It carries the family's history, struggles and achievements. They hope their children can also have the same foundation and the values inherent in a lifestyle connected to the land.
    2. They believe passing it on is an act full of love and responsibility. They have witnessed the erosion of the modern world, with their children leaving their hometowns for cities and embracing strange new lifestyles. Passing on the land is their way of resisting this change, aiming to ensure that a part of their traditional way of life survives. It is also their last effort to maintain their family and way of life in a rapidly changing world.

    1. The couple grew up on this land and have a deep affection for it. They want to pass this land on to their children as a preservation of their beautiful memories with it, hoping that this affection can be passed down forever.

    2. This land is also a bond for the family. The couple’s children all work away from home and only come back occasionally, so the relationship between the parents and children is gradually fading. The couple hopes to use this land to deepen family ties.

    3. For the couple, this land is a cultural entity. They pass it on to their children, hoping to create more excellent culture and make this land bloom with brilliant cultural flowers.

Because they love this land very much and love their children, long for their children's love, and want their ancestors and descendants to remember this land and understand their feelings.

First, the land likely holds deep emotional and familial value. It may be the place where the family has lived for generations, carrying memories of their ancestors and their own life experiences. Passing it down is a way to preserve this family heritage and keep the connection to their roots alive.

Second, there's a sense of responsibility and hope for the future. The land might be seen as a source of sustenance and a foundation for the family's livelihood. By passing it to the children, the old couple hope that the next generation can continue to rely on the land, whether for farming, living, or maintaining a way of life that's important to the family.

Also, in many cultures, land is a symbol of stability and legacy. It represents something permanent that can be passed from one generation to the next, ensuring that the family has a tangible connection to their past and a secure base for their future.

The old couple want to pass on the land to their children mainly for two reasons. First, the land is full of their family's memories and feelings—it's a way to keep their family bond going. Second, the land is their livelihood resource; giving it to the kids can help the children make a living and have a stable life.
