You must have read or heard many stories about heroes and heroines. Can you think of some stories about your personal heroes or national heroes that you find more inspiring and admirable? Why do you feel that way?
One personal hero to me is my friend . He is not a famous person, but he really changed my life. What I admire about him is that he never fears difficulties. No matter how hard things get, he always stays positive and optimistic. There was a time when I felt really down and wanted to give up. He didn’t just say “cheer up”—he stayed with me, encouraged me step by step, and helped me see the bright side. Because of him, I learned to face problems instead of running away. His attitude shaped who I am today: more resilient, braver, and more hopeful. So I’m truly thankful to him. He may not be a national hero, but he is my personal hero.
I admire Tu Youyou most as my national hero. She devoted herself to medical research and discovered artemisinin, saving millions of lives worldwide. She worked quietly with great perseverance and never sought fame. Her dedication and selflessness always inspire me deeply.
One of the most inspiring heroes from the pandemic era is Dr. Zhong Nanshan, a renowned respiratory expert. When COVID-19 broke out in early 2020, he rushed to Wuhan immediately at the age of 84, and became a key figure in leading the fight against the virus.
What I admire most about him is his courage and sense of responsibility. At a time when little was known about the new virus, he spoke the truth about human-to-human transmission, and worked tirelessly to guide the prevention and control work. His calm and reliable voice gave the whole nation great confidence. He shows us that true heroism means standing up for the truth and taking responsibility when the world is in chaos.
I admire Qian Xuesen most as a national hero. He was a great scientist. He gave up comfortable life and high salary abroad and returned to China without hesitation. He devoted all his life to China’s aerospace and national defense cause. Thanks to his great efforts, our country developed missile and space technology rapidly.
I respect him deeply because he had strong love for his motherland. He put national interests above personal benefits. His spirit of dedication and patriotism is always inspiring me.
One hero I admire most is Zhang Guimei. She spent decades building a free high school for girls in poor mountain areas, helping thousands of them go to college. I find her truly inspiring because she devoted her whole life to changing others’ lives with kindness and courage.
Qian Xuesen is my national hero.
He was a great scientist. He gave up comfortable life in America and went back to China determinedly.
He devoted his whole life to China’s space and national defense development. He made huge contributions to our country.
I admire him for his strong patriotism and selfless devotion. He inspires me to love our motherland forever.
My hero is Qian Xuesen, the "Father of Chinese Aerospace".He gave up a successful career in the US and came back to China, even thought he faced great pressure. He led our country's missile and space programs from scratch.
What I admire most is his deep love for his motherland. His perseverance and selfless delication show the spirit of a ture hero.He encourages me to study hard and serve pur country with what I learn.
I have read and heard a lot of stories about heroes, and the national hero I admire most is Yuan Longping. He dedicated his whole life to developing hybrid rice and made great efforts to help China and even the whole world get rid of hunger. Although he faced many difficulties in his research, he never gave up and kept working patiently in the fields. I really respect him because he was simple, modest and always cared more about ordinary people than his own fame. Besides national heroes, I also look up to ordinary people around me, such as responsible teachers and hardworking volunteers. They do their duty quietly and bring warmth to others. These heroes inspire me greatly. They teach me to hold on to my goals, face challenges bravely, and try my best to become a responsible and helpful college student in daily life.
One national hero I admire most is Zhong Nanshan. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when everyone was scared and confused, the 84-year-old doctor took the train to Wuhan at once, even though it was dangerous. He worked day and night to find ways to fight the virus and told the public the truth, which gave us all hope. What makes him so inspiring is his courage to take responsibility when the country needed him most. He is not just a doctor, but a symbol of strength for all Chinese people.
I find Zhang Guimei, the founder of China’s first free high school for girls. She helps thousands of girls receive education and change their lives. What moves me most is her selfless dedication and perseverance—even when she was seriously ill, she never gave up on her students. Her story shows how one person’s selilessness and persistence can light up so many lives.
I think of Chen Xiangrong when it comes to the word "hero".He is a young frontier-defending hero and a martyr who defends our country. He was only 19 years old when he sacrificed his life. When facing a large number of foreign soldiers who deliberately caused trouble, he showed no fear. Instead, he kept fighting with his comrades. He defended the our motherland with his life.He only left one sentence: "Pure love, only for China." This deeply moved me.I think he vividly shows the young generation's deep love for and firm devotion to the motherland. He also shows the responsibility and duty of young people in the new era.He is a contemporary hero who is worthy of our eternal memory.
One national hero I admire is Huang Xuhua, the " father of China's nuclear submarines". As a pioneer of nuclear submarines, he devoted over thirty years to its research silently, making a great contribution to the development of our country's scientific research. During the research, he was cut off from the outside world, not known by the public and even his family until many years later a magazine covered his story. One point that touches me most is when his father passed away, he didn't go home because the research had entered the crucial stage. He once said , " True Ioyalty to the nation is the best filial piety to parents." I think it's truly admirable because he chose to put our country's development in the first place, sacrificing his own happiness. I also learn that we should stick to our goals and do the right thing we think even if not understood and unknown.
My national hero is Zhong Nanshan. He is a great medical scientist in China. During difficult times of the epidemic, he was brave and responsible. He rushed to the frontline without hesitation, gave professional advice and protected people’s health and safety.
I admire him very much because he is brave, selfless and dedicated. He always puts public interests first, never fears difficulties, and sets a great example for young people. His spirit inspires me to be responsible, keep learning and try my best to help others in the future.
I admire Zhong Nanshan most. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he risked his life to lead the fight against the virus. He is brave and responsible, which makes him a true hero to me.I think courage and a sense of responsibility are the most important. Heroes need to do the right thing even when it’s dangerous. And, not all heroes are famous. Some are only known to the people they help. True heroism is about doing good, not about being recognized.
The literary heroine who inspires me the most is Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone with the Wind". At first, she seems to be just a spoiled Southern belle, but the Civil War completely changes everything. When her family's plantation is destroyed and they have nothing left, she doesn't give up. She works in the fields, runs a lumber mill, and does her best to keep her family fed and clothed. What I admire most about her is her indomitable spirit - even when she has lost everything, she says, "Tomorrow is another day." She breaks the stereotype of women in society at that time and doesn't choose to rely on men, but rebuilds her life with her own hands. She is not a perfect person, but her courage to keep going no matter what makes me think she is a true hero.
My personal heroine is Scarlett from *Gone with the Wind*. She was raised in luxury and may have been a bit arrogant and selfish, but when life handed her heavy blows, she didn’t blame fate or others; instead, she displayed an astonishing resilience. Her natural courage and belief are what move me the most.
The qualities shared by heroes and heroines are sincerity, bravery, and the courage to face and overcome difficulties.
I believe the most crucial quality a heroine should possess is never giving up hope, no matter what difficulties she faces—just as Scarlett said, “Tomorrow is another day.”
Heroes aren’t always recognized as such. Those who have been helped by heroes or seen their contributions will regard them as heroes, while others who don’t understand may think they’re crazy. This is because heroes are often misunderstood when pursuing their goals, and they, too, have their flaws. Scarlett fell in love with the wrong man, and when true love finally came along, she wasn’t determined enough.
I admire HuangWenxiu. She is a young cardre dedicated to poverty alleviation. She came back to her hometown and worked as secretary in a remote village after graduating. In 2019,she was killed in a sudden mountain flood at the young age of 30 on her way back to the village to conduct the work of guidance.
She devoted herself to china's development and her compassion for the public hardly impressed me.
The hero I find most inspiring is Zhong Nanshan. During COVID, at age 84, he told people not to go to Wuhan, but he went himself. I admire him because he tells the truth and steps up when people need him most. That courage and sense of duty really move me.
The hero I admire is the poet Su Shi. Despite being demoted repeatedly throughout his life, he remained optimistic and passionate about life. Wherever he went, he always brought benefits to the people and cared about them with a warm heart and a sense of responsibility.
The hero in my mind is Yuan Longping, who is perseverancing, selfless and dedicated. He devoted his life to the research of hybrid rice and sovle the food problem for hundreds of people.Although he had great achievements,he still did experiments in the fields in person. His spirit is worth learning and admiring.
A national hero I deeply admire is Qian Xuesen, the "Father of Chinese Aerospace". He gave up his comfortable life and returned to China, devoting himself to building our country. He laied the foundation for our national defense strength. What makes him so inspiring is his love for his country and his dedication and determination. Even when faced with great difficulties,he never gave up making China stronger. His story shows that true heroes put their country and people above everything else.
Qiu Jin is a heroine I deeply admire. She was an advocate for women's rights and women's education in China, a female martyr who sacrificed her life to overthrow thousands of years of feudal rule, and made great contributions to the Xinhai Revolution. She promoted women's rights and education, which greatly advanced the women's liberation movement, and ultimately gave her life for the revolution. In her, I feel the power of womanhood — independence, self-sacrifice for a just cause, and a courage that rivals or even surpasses that of men.
Among all the national heroes, I admire Zhang Guimei the most. She is a great and kind teacher. She has spent most of her life helping poor girls in mountain areas go to school. She knows education can change their fate, so she tries her best to build a school for them.
She lives a simple life and devotes all her time and money to her students. Even though she is in poor health, she still keeps working hard every day. I deeply respect her because she is selfless, strong and full of love. She never thinks about herself but always cares about the future of those girls. Her story inspires me to study hard, value my chance to learn, and be a warm and helpful person in the future.
I think Mulan's story excites and excites me. The first is her courage to join the army for her father, and the second is her wisdom on the battlefield. Among the Disney movies I watched when I was a child, Mulan impressed me the most. She broke my limitations in female stories and was my enlightenment mentor. I was deeply touched by her talent, courage and breaking the limitations of the times. I think she is a hero in my heart.
The heroic figure I think of is Zhang Dingyu. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he helped every patient despite his body gradually freezing due to ALS, which I admire. I admire him because he places the lives of others above his own, and even with the physical limitations of ALS, he still goes to care for patients, working on the front lines together with all healthcare workers to fight and save patients.
