I think Japan's references from Chinese culture include clothing, etiquette, traditional festivals, writing, and tea ceremony, which all come from Chinese Tang culture.

I think Japanese culture has the shadow of Chinese culture in many aspects. For example, the tea culture, the clothing culture, the weipi culture, the characters and the calligraphy.

There are many similarities between Chinese culture and Japanese culture because it's universally acknowledged that ancient Japan used to attach great significance to learning from China especially in the tang dynasty.Such as tea culture, the Confucianism,Chinese characters, food and some of the core values.

Japanese writing came into being after Chinese characters were introduced into Japan. From the initial lack of characters to the creation of its own unique kana characters and "mixed with Chinese" writing system, this process is the comprehensive learning and introduction of Chinese characters, and according to the original language of Japan to it dripping and re-creation process.
