grammar in English

By Chloe 2020-12-26 257次浏览 课时34

The article is about the different layers of meaning of the "grammar".

The first definition Grammar 1 means the syntactical rules we learn and use to make sentences. Grammar 2 defines grammar as the study of grammar, a branch of linguistic science, and Grammar 3 to me is more like "grammatical", whether a utterance conforms the grammar rules.

I think it is quite common because in Chinese we also have words that have experienced semantic change. For example, the word “科学”could mean science , could be a branch or field of science, or as an adjective to say something is done scientifically or not.

Even there are six books published “古代汉语、现代汉语”, lots of work might still be done in the study of classical and modern Chinese grammar, and the criterias listed in this article can serve as a guideline for future researchers.
